Robin Gara

Always looking for creative outlets, Robin Gara has written poems and made art in various media throughout her life. Originally from rural Ohio, she has made her home in San Antonio for over thirty years.  Now retired from teaching both English and art, she feels a daily current of creative energy that she is utilizing to paint abstract landscapes and other images with acrylics.  She is in love with color and the way it looks at different times of day, in different weather conditions and seasons.  Her other obsession is with memory of place and how that affects our lives.  One of her goals is to find ways to incorporate her memories, good and bad, into her paintings.

Gara has shown her work in the Bihl Haus Art’s  “On and Off Fredricksburg Road Studio Tour,”  the “Arts Heals Hearts” exhibit at The Ecumenical Center, and Centro Cultural Aztlan’s exhibit, “Nosotras: Perceptions of Identity”.
