Carolina Flores
Strongly influenced by family, color, the curve of the highway,
the Fauves, and the Expressionists, Carolina Flores paints expressively, laying down rich colors in broad emotive strokes. Her canvasses celebrate family, highway landscapes, and
santos y angeles positioned among exotic fruits, orchids and
flowers of the season. Her work often captures the gentle vibes
of the Latino culture and the vanishing Spanish mores and
traditions.
Flores is nationally known for her luscious silks that reside
in numerous private and public collections, including the
collection of Caroline Kennedy and the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York City. In San Antonio her work has been exhibited at the Blue Star Contemporary Art Space (1994), The Southwest School of Art (1997) and The Bihl Haus (solo exhibit, “River of Silk,” 2009).
