GarcÃa's work is a diverse range of painting, sculpture, and installation—explores the intersections of feminism, mythology, and cultural roots.
The body of work created for "La entrada al espejo" is part of a new series that delves into the meaning and function of catch phrases or idioms, in this case specific to Puerto Rico. Defined by social, cultural, and situational contexts, catch phrases reflect societal nuances as they evolve through out time. Filtered through her own memories and experiences, GarcÃa gives form to these phrases both preserving them in a visual archive and transforming them into a complex narrative of both private and public identity.
Garcia's work forms part of private and public collections through out the United States and has been featured in solo and group exhibitions, including: Muestra Nacional de Arte 2013, Aduana 2012, Las Múltiples Caras de Eva 2011, among others in San Juan, PR. Recently, her work was acquired by the Museo Francisco Oller in Bayamón, Puerto Rico for its permanent collection.
