Elizabeth Harris
Elizabeth Harris, a San Antonio plastic surgeon, studied art
in college, medical illustration in graduate school and, more
recently, has taken classes at The Southwest School of Art. Her
media of choice include print-making, oil painting and pastel.
She is intrigued by the complexity/simplicity of the human form and the relationship of her anatomy textbooks to the two dimensional art form. Harris says, “Just as the human body is
connected by overlapping sys-tems, figurative art is joined by the same forms and inter-sections. A heart, a kidney and a brain are inherently recognizable because of their particular shape and color.
Harris has won numerous awards for her paintings, including
a National Scholastic Scholarship Award and Art Scholarship Grant. Her work has been shown in numerous national juried exhibitions.
