Tina Karagulian

Drawing since childhood, Tina Karagulian’s love of art always weaved into her careers as counselor, graphic artist, and publisher. In a college elective class on painting, she discovered the ease of mixing colors and knew she found her niche. The 1998 McNay Art Museum’s exhibition O’Keeffe and Texas was a pivotal moment: seeing pink snow in O’Keeffe’s painting of Roof with Snow, rules went out the window, where the real world and abstraction could merge, all with the bold stroke of color. Her artistic influences include Georgia O’Keeffe, Henri Matisse, Dorothy Hood, and Mark Rothko. For over twenty years, Karagulian has facilitated events where women integrate and voice their stories through collage and poetry. As she steps into her midlife years, she delights in sharing her own voice and story through paint on canvas.

Solo and group exhibitions include Inner and Outer Space: Paintings and Poetry at Intermezzo Gallery, Comfort, Texas, Release and Receive: Portals of Transcendence at Fishead Design Studio and Microgallery, San Antonio, Texas, and the Art Heals Hearts Exhibition at the Ecumenical Center, San Antonio, TX. Tina Karagulian's artwork is available for purchase at Church of Reconciliation, Integrative Family Medicine, Intermezzo Gallery, and Mockingbird Handprints.
