Mahalah M. Rood

Inspired by plants, animals and the forces of Nature in urban environments, Mahalah Rood works primarily in watercolor monotypes, mixed media and acrylic painting. Her own back yard is a major source for her designs but she also works with subjects and themes from her travels, most recent adventures being Iceland and Scotland.  Monotypes offer a beautiful organic randomness in color and line that expresses these natural themes.

She has taught art to all ages for over 20 years. Her teaching goal is to introduce students to various processes and allow them to follow their creative inspirations. She emphasizes experimentation with many media and how to apply them to designs while facilitating a relaxed learning atmosphere. She has taught mixed media painting, traditional painting, collage, basic printmaking, art glass window construction, art glass design and glass fusion.
