Loretta Young Medellin

A Fulbright recipient, Loretta Medellin, has a strong exhibition and teaching record. Medellin has her MFA in sculpture from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She is an International Baccalaureate art instructor at Burbank High School in San Antonio.

She relishes taking elements of nature into abstraction, so that

they are familiar, yet odd. Medellin likens the experience to an Alice in Wonderland adventure, where the viewer becomes small enough to enter the surface of the picture plane, and can then slide down the drips of paint, rest among various planes of colors or bounce on a textured surface.
