Pamela Reed

Artist Statement

I work not for the results but the process, to create in juxtaposed jungles, under sun-ripened skies, mosquito mania, ridiculous rains and human hunger. The constant is nature, fruits and plants. I use mostly oil, work with mixed media and large murals. I have worked to develop a technical process which ends in a perennial vividness reflected in the natural elements that integrate a call toward the improvement of our spiritual health if we look again to nature. Sometimes I speak of our consumeristic behaviors and the challenge to balance both our lives and our checkbooks. My collage series invokes the deep difference between the natural harmony and the villainess of some human acts. Mostly my work is a commentary on life’s simplicity, but with the harsh reality of trying to please every evolving appetite that emerges from the memories of man.
